Locals and visitors alike all rave about the view from the top of the Washington Monument but summer months bring long lines to this popular attraction and with tickets distributed on a first-come, first-served basis there's a chance you can miss out or at minimum stand broiling in the sun!
Here's an insider secret - reserve a spot in line for your timed visit by purchasing a ticket online. There is a small $1.50 charge per ticket as opposed to the free tickets you can pick up at the monument, but hey, $1.50 a ticket not to wait in the long lines is worth it.
Reserve your ticket at Nps.gov/wamo.
